Voting awareness

I wanted to create a group to talk about things that are happening that affect us politically.  I think we all need to be smart and active voters, and i hope that starting this group will help to facilitate that for the south west.  This group is about sharing opinions and ideas.  Its good to share feelings about the elected officials who represent us, but this really isn't the place to campaign for someone or flat out lambast the people you dislike.

The more active and aware we are in regards to the things that affect us politically, the stronger we will become as a voting block.  The strength we develop as an active and informed voting group will necessitate our elected officials to become more receptive to addressing out interests and concerns.

Here's another petition for you. The local chapter of Move to Amend is collecting signatures urging our local municipalities to pass resolutions in support of a constitutional amendment to revoke corporate personhood.  The only way our democracy can continue to operate is to make sure that corporations are not considered people entitled to all the rights that actual people have.  Please let the City Council know that you support this movement.

I hope to get to the LATFOR hearing later this week, but can't be at Adam's meeting tonight.  Any info you can share would be great!  Thanks!

Short notice but i noticed on adams FB page that he's holding a meeting at city hall tonight @ 6 pm in preparation for the LATFOR meeting on wednesday @ 10:30 am.  I'm going to go and i'll take notes for the group on what was discussed.  It will be tough for me to make the meeting on wed morning though.  Is there anyone who was planning on going who thinks they would be able to share with the group what was discussed/ramifications?

Adam McFadden has an on-line petition on the re-districting.  I checked this morning and it is just short of the needed 100 signatures.

It look like you are off to a good start Jeremy!  The goals you have for the group sound great.
