It is time to nominate libraries for the 2017 Library of the Year Contest!  Arnett was named Public Library of the Year in 2015.  Maybe it is our year again.  So, let’s say you love all our entertainment programs for kids, teens, and adults (music, storytime, arts, games, etc.) or you love our educational activities (computer classes, Literacy Volunteers programs, high school equivalency exam prep,    homework tutoring, etc.)  or perhaps you just love that fact you can visit with friends and neighbors in a safe and welcoming place while borrowing a much anticipated book or movie, please do some nominating!

Please remember that there are many great libraries besides Arnett to choose from.  Maybe you feel this is our friends by Highland Park’s year.   Wonderful renovations, interior decorating that includes a newly discovered Frederick Douglas portrait, an almost magical outside Frederick Douglas mural and even changing their name to the Frederick Douglas Community Library make them a strong candidate for this great honor.  A vote for them is also a way to celebrate one of Rochester’s greatest heroes, Frederick Douglas.

No matter which library you pick, nominating is a great way to show how much you love libraries.  Click below to nominate.  The Arnett Branch, the Frederick Douglas Library, and the Phillis Wheatley Community Library (another charming, amazing, and incredibly valuable local library) are all found under the Monroe County Library System heading.
