Lake Monona (Madison is a city between two lakes, Wingra and Monona. This offers extensive shorelines all around the city.

These photos are taken in a neighborhood that is in the heart of the city. 

And"Willy Street"

Willy (or rather, Williamson) Street is known as "Restaurant Row," but it is now undergoing significant construction & facelifts. 

Something important I noticed while driving in to Madison for a meeting at the Center for Photography, and that is that Madison has no "inner city." Well, of course it has an inner city, but there is no blight. Downtown is lively, vibrant and economically healthy. It costs more to live near it than away from it.
