On a bitterly cold, snowy night, with only a few hours notice, neighbors came together in a gathering of more than a dozen to show solidarity for the family and express our deepest wishes for a better tomorrow. Another group of neighbors from up and down that street will be gathering in a few days to talk about what happened and to figure out how to prevent it in the future.

The family has lost their home and nearly everything in it. However, many people are coming forward with monetary donations for the family to be processed through their church, The Progressive Church of God Cathedral on Chili Avenue.

While it would be far better if this event had never happened in the first place, this is a neighborhood that pulls together when to help one another as needs arise.

This is not a bad neighborhood. This is a neighborhood where something bad happened -- the same as something bad happened on French Road with that other shooting.
