Dekovas is also a member of the Genesee Valley Youth Hockey Club (GVYHC), and his dad Charles is a GVYHC coach.

Thurston Road - Mini Clean Sweep

With help from the SW Neighborhood Service Center, Tiffany Chandler (Raeburn St., resident) organized a Mini Clean Sweep along Thurston Rd (from Brooks Ave., to Ravenwood). The cleanup took place on Saturday July 20, 2013 @ 10:00am.

Tiffany, along with Mr. Jimmy (Thurston Rd) called upon youth in the neighborhood to participate. Everyone jumped right in and did what was asked without any hesitation. To keep the kids energized, Mr. Corey (team leader/Thurston Rd) came up with a slogan "Keep it Neat. Clean Sweep"  all the kids chanted while sweeping, raking, and picking up trash and debris.

Several businesses along Thurston provided refreshments, Elizabeth McDade provided healthy snacks for kids to try, and Environmental Services provided the necessary tools needed to get the job done. 

The next project the youth & families will take on is the Ravenwood garden. They will work closely with seasoned gardeners to learn how to properly maintain the garden.
