Religious Leaders Needed for Prayer Vigil

As a way to respond to the murders, and increasing number of murders in SW Rochester, I have been organizing prayer vigils. The idea is to have one vigil a couple of evenings after each murder at the location of the murder (if known) or the location the body was found. We have had two vigils so far. I am in the process of planning the next for the murder of Johnny Summers on 5/4/14. We need religious leaders to come forward and help lead these prayer vigils. The vigils are meant to send a message that the community will respond to these murders peacefully and prayerfully. These vigils are organized by the community and may or may not involve the victims' family. Often the faith or religious institution of the victim or their family is not known, so we are not reaching out to their religious leader to lead the vigil. This is a chance for each religious organization in SW Rochester to partake in this mission. If you or your religious institution can help lead a vigil, please contact me.

Thanks Bill and Mary Ann for replying. That's great news about Deacon John. I will post that as a time for people to gather. I would also still like to have a short 20 to 30 minute vigil at around 7 PM Thursday night. People are always running late, so 20 to 30 minutes gives people to show up and be there. The prayer/blessing could start at 7:15. That gives people a chance to meet and greet. It also gives us 30 minutes of presence on the street. If either of you could be there for that, that would be great. Let me know.

Hi Dan,

Thursday evening I'll be at Dr. Moorehouse's fundraiser dinner for His Branches.

I could be there either tonight or Friday night, and if neither of those will work I'll plan to break away from work (hopefully with a few other folks) to meet John at the Thursday noon meeting that Mary Ann posted.

Thanks for posting the pictures Bill, and thanks for help leading the prayers. I thought the song choice was a very appropriate as well. It was a good group and a positive statement.
