Genesee Valley Little League Needs Coaching Help

Genesee Valley Little League needs coaching help. We are going into our 7th season of revival but we are struggling. We are finding it exceedingly difficult to have enough coaches to deliver a quality program to our kids and value to parents for their money. We have support from the 19th WCA beyond measure. The city has given us unprecedented support. Just stop by Genesee Valley Park and witness the upgrades to the fields. Our registration fee is the lowest in the region and Jim Dahlberth keeps our uniform prices low while sometimes battling late uniform request. We have even received a grant from Little League Baseball to upgrade the scholl field at Post and Congress to a dedicated T-Ball Field. Stop by sometime and see the initial upgrades. What 19WCA and the city cannot give us is volunteer support. We are not a multi-billion dollar organization so we can't PAY coaches. To put it bluntly, we need DAD'S and anyone else who will commit to being a coach. Coaching is a commitment. Each team requires a minimum of 3 coaches to be successful. We would like to have a 3 year commitments to build depth of coaching and skill for our players. Men, women, it makes no difference. If you want to coach we can help train you. If you already have the skills, welcome aboard. THIS IS AN OPEN PLEA FOR HELP. WE CAN NOT CONTINUE IF WE CAN'T OFFER A QUALITY PROGRAM, AND A QUALITY PROGRAM IS ONLY POSSIBLE WHEN FAMILIES CAN LEND A HAND. ULTIMATELY THE FATE OF GENESEE VALLEY LITTLE LEAGUE WILL LAY IN THE HANDS OF THOSE WHO WANT THEIR KIDS TO PLAY BASEBALL AND KIND FIND THE TIME TO VOLUNTEER. THE LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT HAVE DONE ALL WE CAN AT THIS JUNCTURE.

Genesee Valley Little League is holding walkup registrations at the Arnette Library on the following Saturdays in March; 5, 12 and 19 from 10AM until 1PM. If you are a new player/parent please bring your birth certificate and proof of residency for our playing territory. Also, check us out online at www.gvlittleleague.org where you can also register online.

Another baseball season has come to a close for Genesee Valley Little League. We would like to thank the 19th ward and southwest neighbors for the tremendous support we received this season.85 players. 8 teams. More volunteers step up to help coach and umpire. We also began playing games at the Adams St. recreation center in Cornhill. Our game at the Flint Street recreation center brought people outside their houses. People stop cars and came over to watch. Business owners wanted to know how they could help. We are expanding our foot print and bringing baseball back into communities that haven't seen it in a long time. Thanks to a grant possibility from Little League Baseball we will hopefully be able to restore the ball field at School #10 on Post and Congress St. Thanks to the Democrat & Chronicles coverage of our opening day this season we have even more supporters. I can't say enough about the men and women of Genesee Valley LL who volunteered countless hours to make baseball a reality for our neighborhood kids. To all of our sponsors, you are the greatest. Without your sense of commitment to our community we would simply not have the financial means to put one kid on the fields. Thank you for your spirit of giving. Our board and coaches will be taking a much needed hiatus for a few months, then its back in the saddle as we begin planning for the 2016 season. To borrow a phrase from one of Frank Sinatra's songs, "it was a very good year".

Donations to Genesee Valley Little League

As Genesee Valley Little League continues to grow, so do our expense. Besides solicitation of sponsorship from our local businesses in the Southwest quadrant, individuals may also contribute financially to the league. One can contribute in whatever amount you wish. If you do contribute you may send all funds to Genesee Valley Little League, PO Box 24371, Rochester, NY 14624. GVLL is 401-c-3 tax exempt and all donations are tax deductable. All donors will have their names posted on our web site (www.gvlittleleague.org) in our "thank you" section. Come out and support your neighborhood Little League in 2015.

Season opener for Genesee Valley Little League

GVLL will play its first regular season games this Saturday May 3rd at Genesee Valley Park. Heres the schedule:

1. T-Ball teams 1 vs 2 at 10AM field 1
2. T-Ball teams 2 vs 3 at 10AM field 3
3. GVLL minors team 2 vs Irondequoit LL at 9:30AM field 2
4. GVLL minors team 1 vs team 3 at 12 noon.

Opening Day For Genesee Valley Little League

Genesee Valley Little League is holding it's Opening Day celebration Saturday May 10 with a parade at 9:30AM from the Neighborhood Center at the corner of Brooks and Genesee St. to Genesee Valley Park. We hold our ceremonies at the park and then the kids will play baseball. We will likely field 6 teams this season. We are rebuilding. It takes a lot of effort but our children are worth every bit. Come out and support us. This is our 59th season in the 19th Ward. Hope to see you at and in the parade and at the baseball field.
