Event Description

PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE TO AN HOUR EARLIER!  Join us for a visit to historic Ellwanger Garden, former home of Ellwanger of Ellwanger & Barry, one of Rochester's early plantsmen.  Sorry for late notice, but conflicting dates were listed ... but judging by my peonies, it will be a good time for a visit from 3-4 PM on Sunday June 14.

Gardens are never the same – they change from week to week or even day to day. That’s why it will be a good time to visit the historically gorgeous Ellwanger Garden.

Many different varieties of peony, including herbaceous and woody stemmed, illuminate the garden in a riot of color.  Of course we all know how Mother Nature can be a bit tricky with her timing.  No matter if the peonies are early, late, or right on time – there will be incredible blooms to enjoy at the garden as a succession of perennials take their place.  Parking available on nearby McLean Street.  Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 to support the garden.

That sounds good.  Let's do it.

John and Marian,

Want to meet at your place and you drive?  Say 3:45 PM?  Lauren and I could meet you at your house, 280 Melrose.  Then I can get a quick peak at your garden when we get back, since I missed last Sunday's get-together.

I plan on going and am interested in carpooling if others are. I live on Aberdeen St. Looking forward to it!
