StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit whose mission is to provide people of all backgrounds with the opportunity to record, share and preserve the stories of our lives. The City of Rochester is one that is incredibly diverse, including the many immigrants, or new Americans, who have moved here from outside the United States and made Rochester their new home. While every story is important, and none will be turned away, we are specifically focusing on recording the stories from this section of our community.

While the process is called an ‘interview’, we focus on recording a comfortable conversation between friends, or loved ones. Every participant will receive a CD copy of their conversation, even if they decide not to archive or have their conversation saved. We encourage you to bring a friend or relative, and share your story.
