Discussion & Decisions:
1. Dr. Cephas Archie, Chief Equity Officer for the Rochester City Government, met with us to share his office's (in collaboration with the County Government) plan for effective implementation of the RASE Commission's Recommendations.
A. Cephas shared how the foundation for their work is a.) Transparency, b.) Fidelity, c.) Accountability, & d.) Sustainability.
B. He emphasized that the work done for implementation must be accomplished through collaboration among County/City wide organizations vs. the status quo "silo" process of one major organization taking control of one or more recommendations, in order to assure that letters a-d, in letter A, above are realities. He specifically emphasized the need for this initiative to include, county, in addition to city organizations.
C. To attain City/County-wide participation to develop implementation/action plans for each RASE Recommendation, Cephas directed us to the updated website, RocRASE.com to demonstrate how interested organizations would register their interest & commitment. To do so, follow these directions:
1. Go to the website, RocRASE.com
2. Click on "Recommendations"
3. Click on "Browse"
4. Scroll down to the "Education Recommendations"
5. Click on "Get Involved"
D. Through personal recruitment, the media & social media, city/county-wide organizations will be encouraged to consider registering for involvement for specific RASE Recommendation action planning.
E. Cephas & Candice Rubin's offices will provide facilitation assistance to all organizations, including consideration for financial assistance.
F. Cephas emphasized the dedication that his office will provide to this project & will be available to us upon request.
2. We agreed to continue our work on our agenda items, including our interest in advancing the RASE Recommendations for "Curriculum & Testing."
Dan will send out information regarding our next meeting date & time.
