Event Description

The 19th Ward Community Association Public Safety Committee is helping organize "Corner Sits" to bring attention to problem intersections: Woodbine and Arnett, Thurston and Chili, Thurston and Anthony, Thurston and Brooks, and Lenox and Genesee. The idea is to show we can help take back the neighborhood by showing we care. There will be an initial one held May 1 at Midvale and Thurston, near the location of the Rosalind homicide, to show support for that area. Cutaia's has donated hots for a barbecue. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Turns out I am coordinating this first "Corner Sit" as point person. We are having a point person for each Corner Sit, from the area where it will be held. Next one will be Georgia NeSmith for the Chile and Salina St. parking lot of Cutaia's Meat Market, end of May or early June, TBA.

Tonya was certainly invited to plan this, she thought of it. Unfortunately she did not ever follow through so there was little planning. Next to none. The committee picked up on the idea, but there was never a chairperson or leader. I am trying to pick up and run. Numerous efforts were made to engage Tonya but with no response, as she does not like to attend meetings, apparently. However, let's pick up on A GREAT IDEA.

Let's get everyone in the Ward up off their (couch) and out and about. Come down Thurston and have a hot dog, and say hi to your neighbors. Spring is here, time to get out of the house.

Someone else has to take over on this group project, as I am now occupied full time with work, as in every minute. Tonight I put together two posters, one for a pre-even flyer, and one to be handed out ... just need a volunteer to coordinate.

Just wondering if Tonya Brooks (the person who originally suggested the 'corner sits idea on the 'yahoo' group) is involved in the planning of this??
