Members of the Thurston Village design team will present and discuss preliminary design alternatives, scope, and themes. The design team is seeking feedback from the public and key stakeholders on these aspects of the project.
This is the first of two planned public meetings in the design phase of this project. The project is a direct result of a prior 4-step planning process that incorporated two public visioning workshops and a community charrette.
The Thurston Village Revitalization Project includes the design and construction of Right of Way improvements on Thurston Rd between Ravenwood Ave and Brooks Ave. These improvements will enhance the urban village feel of the corridor. The City will explore opportunities for Improvements in aesthetics, lighting, safety, street furniture, street trees, walkability, traffic, signage and gateway features as part of this project.

Comment
If anyone who attended the meeting can provide a summary, it would be appreciated.
Thanks for sharing this John!! I just read through the minutes from October and early November 2013 meetings. It seems that this "public meeting" has been on someone's list since before November 6th but we are just now hearing about it with less than a week's notice AND during the busy holiday season!! It leaves me wondering how much public input is really desired and how it is that nobody thought to announce this sooner!?
Although this is all advertised as a result of a prior "4 step planning process", I think it's important to note that the planning process happened over 5 years ago so it's quite possible that planning is moving forward with old (perhaps no longer valid) data!
While i am glad to see SOMETHING happening with Thurston, I hope that the committee has not gotten so far into their design ideas without updated/current community input.
