St. Monica Church welcomes all to walk in a
in a special procession for peace in the world in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. The procession includes children dressed as the young Portuguese boy and girls that once experienced Mary’s apparitions. Little children dress as angels, others play drums, hold candles and banners. A large statue of Mary, covered with white flowers is carried through the streets. Even the priest and deacon march, carrying a monstrance. The marchers sing and pray the rosary as they walk beginning at 831 Genesee Street, traveling north on Genesee St. to Roslyn St., west to Wellington Ave, south to Sawyer St., east to Millbank St. and then south to Monica Street, ending back at St. Monica Church. Police escort the march, and many neighbors join in as the group passes them. The Fatima procession joins these neighbors in an effort to pray for peace in the world, and in our city.
