I was wondering if anyone has been to Bigg Mouth Diner over on West Ave near Cairn St?

I tried to go last night but they're only open Friday nights and the rest of the week during lunch. Went to Holley's instead and helped orient a new waitress :-)
By the way, Holley's has some GREAT Mac 'n Cheese!
Yeah, Bigg Mouth is only open for breakfast and lunch, most days of the week. Have read one great review, you get a lot. And by the way, the place is named because the owner has a big mouth, in terms of speaking about whatever is on her mind. A good thing, I would guess, although I have not been there. If anyone else has tried, let us know how it is.

And yes, Holley's is great. For anyone who has not been, try it ASAP!

I have not had good luck at Holly's in terms of the quality of the food (2-3 mos ago); though the people were wonderful; I may try it one more time...good to hear from others.
I am just back from having lunch at Big Mouth (it's located in the 'business park' on the corner of Cairn and West Avenue....... It is a GREAT diner. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN - very good food (all homemade), excellent service, nice people and struggling tremendously to establish a base of regular customers. They've been open since FEBRUARY!
Spent some time talking to the owner - right now she's just open M-Th from 7 am -2pm and Friday until 8 pm. THey had been open weekends for a while but weren't getting customers so they cut back on hours. I told her that we had 20,000 people in the 19th ward and very few places nearby to go and eat.
I promised her to 'spread the word' so please consider checking out this diner. The food is very good and the prices are amazing!! If we could generate enough interest she'd probably extend her hours!
Thanks Margy. I will try and get over there, but it's hard working til 5pm. But let's spread the word!
I will check it out, thanks Margy!

REMINDER: Bigg Mouth diner is open Friday evenings and they would appreciate your business. I just had a great late lunch there - 2 people, 2 lunches, cookies to go- LESS THAN $14 and GREAT FOOD. They serve fish fry on friday's - i don't like fish but it has been reviewed as being very good.
Check out Bigg Mouth- they'll appreciate the business!
Starting in October, Bigg Mouth is going to be open on Wednesday evenings and Sundays from 8 am - 2 pm. Their business is slowly picking up but I know that they want/need more people to eat there to keep things going.
I had dinner there Friday night- the food was excellent and dinner for 2 was less than $20. I also had breakfast a while ago- it was also very good.
This diner reminds me a bit of Highland Park Diner in the early days- family run, quality food, good selection and VERY reasonable prices. I hope that they can last as it's really nice to have such a decent place close to our neighborhood!
I visited Bigg Mouth today for lunch after a trip to the library, and was very pleased. And (not) surprised to run into Margy Meath! My first time there.

Since I was pressed for time on my way to an appointment, I had an egg salad sandwhich, something I would never take the time to make at home. It hit the spot, served with chips and a pickle, for $2.95. And delicious! The menu is broad, with many breakfast and lunch items ... I am planning a return visit to check out the Reuben sandwhich. Very friendly atmosphere.
