A few weeks ago I noticed a new billboard on Chili - right at the city edge near the canal. It featured a picture of an African American family with young adult male. THe title of this billboard is "I am Gay and this is where i stay" - It's a billboard that was designed to reach out to African American men and their families, to combat homophobia, increase self esteem, etc. (see the following article from the NY Times for details: http://www.thebody.com/content/news/art23203.html - and - http://www.wearepartofyou.org/

This morning, I noticed that the "this is where I stay" portion of the billboard was VERY neatly cut out - it definitely looks like it was intentionally removed and not the cause of wind or a simple tear...... Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think it was done intentionally??

I drove by it on my way home tonight, and part of it has been cut out. I have seen things like this in the past. It's called billboard hacking. But what in my eyes is a irrelevance hack. Usually they are much more impressive! LOL

Example:

It's missing the part of the message that says "This is where I Stay"...... my interpretation of the 'revised' billboard is that someone 'hijacked' it (to use Shawn's phrase) because they didn't approve of their being a message that there are gay black men in this community - the intention of the billboard message is to reach out to that particular population as one of the highest rates of continued HIV infection is among men of color who have sex with other men.
