There is a short article in the City Newspaper about several members of City Council that traveled to San Antonio for the annual National League of Cities conference. I believe it is a good thing that we participate in events like this, and that the city is looking at what other cities are doing. But one thing that NEEDS to happen is that the city start LISTENING to US. We have some very smart folks in Rochester, but there exists this attitude that we do not know what is best for us. I'm not sure where it comes from, but given the Fast Ferry, Ren Square, and RBTL. The picture starts to become a little more clear.

The two things that stood out in the article, and why I posted this are:

1. The article mentions transparency as a valuable tool, yet nowhere does it mention WHO went on the trip. Maybe just a little oversite?

2. They write about the council members learning about "...a web-based link to local police departments..." which is http://www.location19.org/forum/topics/crimereportscom-1" target="_blank">something that I have posted about on here before, and have even brought it the attention our NSC and our local council members as an idea that would wrok well here. I guess they just needed to see it somewhere else to make it a credible idea.
