I heard from a neighbor that several police cars descended onto Marlborough Road Saturday night at 10pm (between GPB and Westfield). My neighbor asked the RPD what happened and they wouldn't tell her (ugh!) but said it would be 'in the news' - so far I've not seen anything in the news and I certainly don't understand why police will not tell concerned neighbors what is happening in their own neighborhood! My neighbor did hear from another person at the scene that a woman was robbed - she (reportedly) was walking and a man on a bike robbed her (perhpas using a bb gun as a weapon).
As i was discussing this with some neighbors today I also learned that several nearby neighbors had their cars broken into during the past week or so. One called the police- the other didn't bother.
It would be VERY helpful if we had some central way to alert people to criminal activity in this neighborhood so that people know what is going on and what to look out for. Since the city has the capacity to call residents to invite them to participate in "clean sweep" i wonder if that same technology might be used to call neighbors and notify them of crime activity/trends in various neighborhoods. Here on Marlborough, we have a 'neighborhood watch' but we have no decent way to get information about what might be happening on our own street............
