Genesee Park Boulevard Crime Watch

"During the night on Wednesday my neighbor's house on Genesee Pk Blvd. was broken into and over $4000 in various electronics were stolen. The thieves entered through a 1st floor dining room window. Bottles of alcohol were also taken, some with only a couple of inches of liquor.

The police feel it's a group of young teens as the access via the window is very narrow, not large enough for an adult. A few of the liquor bottles were found going south on GPB towards Thurston Rd. Since the large screen TV was not taken the police feel the robbers were on foot and just couldn't physically carry any more items..

2 of the young men renting the house were upstairs sleeping - their very large dog was in one of the bedrooms.

This is very unusual for this area of the Ward....per neighbors and police. Please make sure your windows are securely locked and keep a light or two on outside."

thank you for passing this information along. I am curious about the assumption that it is teens based on the alledged size of the opening where they entered.... I've seen lots of "big" teens and lots of "small" adults.
I still wish that we could get more information about these events and from 'official' sources rather than word of mouth. I very much appreciate that we are getting SOME information because concerned citizens are taking the time to SHARE it - otherwise we'd not know about these things, but we need more information more quickly. As it stands now, only a very SMALL portion of people in the 19th ward know that these crimes are happening - if you're not connected to this site (or the few others out there) you might never know about the various larcenies, home invasions, robberies, etc..... information is power and those with access to important information can help with 'empowerment' by opening up lines of communication and sharing!

Thanks Shawn, more info we all need. I totally agree with Margy, I so often see regularly repeated police presence at two seperate houses on our street and have no idea why. The lack of any official news on this activity is an ongoing concern and one I voiced at the last Thurston Road Meeting. I try to be aware of activities in our neighborhood but its very frustrating to not know what's going on.
I don't have any ideas how we can open the lines of communication and would be interested in any ideas others have.
