There is an interesting discussion occurring in another part of Location19 but it seemed that it might be worth its own 'thread'. A few people have been sharing some observations and history re: the Megiddo Church community that has its home on Thurston Road.
I know almost nothing about this particular group except that they keep their property in immaculate condition and offer a bit of visual relief for Thurston Road.....
Interestingly, they also have a webpage so they are a bit connected to the 'outside' world. It would be great to learn more about this community and what connections, if any, they have (or would like to have) with the larger 19th ward.
Does anyone know more about them or know people who are a member of their community?

There is a lot about their history and beliefs on their web site . In past years they have participated in the 19WCA garden tours, and you can view their beautiful gardens in the summertime by walking down West Sawyer Place. (Please be respectful of the fact that it is private property.) They operate a very modern printing company in the Westview Offices building across the street from the residence. Their church is next door at the corner of Thurston and Sawyer. They're very nice, friendly people whose belief system is very much compatible with contemporary science.
Yes, they are a great contributor to our community. However, I just reviewed their website, and one of their beliefs is that Jesus is returning to earth soon. I have trouble with this concept.

They are very welcome members of our community, and I sure would like to meet and discuss. However, if they prefer peace and quiet, I certainly understand that.

Doris Meadows is our 19th Ward historian, I believe, and she may have more information. I don't have her e-mail address, so maybe the 19th WCA office can supply. Ann?
