This is what many of us homeowners wake up to every morning on Elba St.  A few of us seniors are up around 6a picking up the messes in front of and on yards belonging to tenants.  Sure wish  these SW landlords would either better screen their tenants or the City Inspectors would better do their jobs! I have decided to turn my eyes away.  No pay, no benefits, NO work, NOT me!! ~~jussayin

Landlord at 21 Has been cited. I think I finally communicated with the woman next door -one of her kids was there and translated. Anyway, the clothes are no longer on the fence. They are hanging on the cars (i did my best to explain the concept of a clothes line).

my daughter says do u need her assistance?

I don't think so at this point. I don't know what dialect they speak, but the kids speak English, and I think I got the message through.

I have 100 ft of new clothesline.  wanna get a couple hooks from Hunts Hardware and string a drying line for them. i could get a little bouquet of flowers from the public market since i am going there this morning. A welcome offering? The landlord will not fair as well since that mess n the yard was generated by the last tenant. He had to have seen it on his rent collecting visits.

Great Idea!  I would offer to pick up the hooks but I'm stuck here waiting for a contractor to give me an estimate. But I could go get them early this afternoon.

Problem solved! New clothesline installed. We met some of the kids,  polte, respectful. They speak Swahili --responded with big smiles to Judy's "jambo"!

One final note: It's really nice to see the clothes neatly hung on the clothesline!

1 day AFTER trash collection

The deterioration of the neighborhood continues without letup! The tenants moved out over a week ago. See photo below.

photo forwarded to D Hawkes, Paul Houlihan and the Mayor. Wonder who will respond and when?

after a flurry of emails, some foot work and some strong face to face conversations this morning, this is the response at noon today! But why do I have to act like a deranged lady to get any action in regards to continuing code violations?
