Sorry to see Sensuous Satiables leave the corner of Thurston and Enterprise. They are still in the Ward, though, in the former Creator's Hands/then RISEGO building on Arnett.
Sadly, Food Lovers has departed. Really wanted to see a successfull local eatery there. Food was pretty decent.
The brief-lived upholstery business next to Super Wings is gone. A tatoo shop is moving in.

The most recent Thurston Brooks Merchants Association newsletter is posted on the "TBMA" link to the right. As we are all quite part-time, other updates sometimes get delayed.
The second group of facades (4 bldgs) has gone to bid and the contracts are in place. Construction should start as soon as all permits are in place. The third group of facade improvements will go to bid shortly, and we hope that these will be complete during the fair weather and good construction season. The Thurston Road Post Office is not on the list targeted to be closed, and recently renewed its lease in the present location (very good news for neighbors) - and they have since made some improvements inside the space.
Sensuous Satiables has indeed moved, but remains committed to the neighborhood. Don Hanks, Street Manager for Thurston Road, is the key contact on any questions or concerns about businesses on the street. He follows up on any concerns brought to our attention, but usually knows what's happening well before I hear about it! He was out riding on Thurston yesterday even in the pouring rain - checking into the concerns about broken glass and debris behind one of the businesses.
Let me know if you need more information on any of these concerns, or if you have any other issues that I may be able to help address!
I strongly second the motion that we need to get the building owner to take care of problems like this, and if they don't, we need to get the City to enforce code. If we do not, we just enable the problems by cleaning up someone else's mess.
The 19th WCA will be restarting its Housing Committee to focus of code enforecement issues on residential streets. We really need the merchants groups to press these issues on the commercial streets.
