Yesterday I heard a story on NPR about www.Recovery.com, and how you could find out, in some cases before it has been announced by local officals, what if any stimulus money was headed to your city or town. So I checked it last night, and nothing to exciting, but I just checked it tonight, and found this little tid bit of information titled "AdvanceNotice: Highway Resurfacing, Thurston Rd"

Check out this link to see what Monroe county will receive. You can break it down by city from there.

Interesting Shawn and thanks for sharing!!
I wonder if this is a 'simple' repaving project or whether it can/will be linked with some other ideas that have been discussed re: Thurston in past 'visioning' events..... I also wonder if i might be able to convince them to come and fill in the long low spot that sits in front of my house and collects water, ice and leaves :-)
It will be interesting to see what comes of this, like you said Margy. I think it's just a repaving. There are many other streets that are listed, but the heading for the bidding process was for Thurston Road.
well, the last time i called the city about this 'low spot' they told me that they had it on record as something to be done and then gave me a long story about not having any money to fix it, etc, etc, etc......this is going on 5 or 6 years. 2 years ago they dug up some stuff right in front of my house (water mains or something) - they were literally right there with blacktop, roller, etc- I asked whether they might be able to just do a little 'patch' and they said that they would like to, but couldn't because it wasn't part of their 'job' that day - go figure!
very cool! You just never stop....and all this on top of school, your other full time job.
thanks, with much appreciation.

Too right. I wish I had the same energy.
