As anyone who watches the news knows by now, the neighborhood experienced another tragedy yesterday - a mother was stabbed by her son, a father was shot and an 18 year old (presumably) killed himself after killing his father. I'm sure that other details and rumors will make their way to the public in the coming days.....
this is yet another tragedy to hit our neighborhood - one that occurred (apparently) behind closed doors yet brought intense media attention to Wellington. Family troubles are common for all of us but few of us ever talk about them. Suicide is (thankfully) less common but frequently a 'taboo' topic.
I wonder how people feel hearing about this very sad and tragic event?

I am shocked and feeling uncertain how this could occur. I know how it could occur, but why? What led up to this? Did nobody notice who knows those involved that something may have been wrong? Did not anyone think to try to help the young man who may have had a problem? Maybe not. It is tragic.

Can only ask that those who know of situations will take action, even if they feel "it is none of their business." It is if you can save lives. I am familiar with suicide situations, and know that they are indeed a cry for help. If you know of someone who has attempted previously, and then suggests again, do not hesitate to call for immediate help. You can help save someone's life.
Sheri, this is a wonderful idea. The zipcode for the Campbell Family at 44 Wellington is 14611.
Another idea: There was a deacon bat St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church downtown who would gather a few folks to pray briefly at or in front of any homicide site in the city. I can't remember his name & don't know if he's still doing that, but I'd be willing to look into it. He held one of these around the corner from my house some years ago for a similar murder. It was short but powerful.
Sheri, Thank you for the very good suggestion. In times like these, it's hard to know what to do - you know you want to do something even if you don't know the family. I wish all our efforts could end these violent and tragic events.
Sheri and Ken,

Good suggestions. Thank you. I will send a note, as suggested, and Ken, if anything more develops, please pass along the word.
