Hello all! I'm Wendy, a new member. I'm a southeast quad resident, but thought I could pop in here for ideas.
I've been caring for a colony of cats over the winter. They used to be under the care of a lady down the street, but she went into a nursing home and the cats migrated over to my place. I brought one very old cat inside to join my other pets, and he has adapted well. The outside cats are doing ok too, they seem healthy and strong and had already been neutered by their previous caretaker. But the problem is my neighbor now wants them gone. She has bad asthma attacks and the cats apparently go on her porch as well as mine. :(
So I am sadly looking for options on what to do with them. There are six of them and all but one are friendly and let me pet them. They don't like to be picked up however. I can't stand the idea of these free ranging cats being stuck in a shelter cage, to await a bad end. It's not feasible for me to bring them into the household either.
Does anyone have any ideas? Or know of a rescue that could take them? I'm just starting my research on all this. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
~Wendy

Try Scottsville Veterinary Adoptions. They're a no-kill shelter and may be able to help with the friendly ones. There are various repellents that may be able to discourage them from visiting the neighbor's property - not sure as to effectiveness - ask the folks at Scottsville. Try double-sided sticky tape in the areas where they like to perch.
