Please don't litter! Spay and neuter!

Please check out our Facebook page:

That is where most of our communication is happening right now.  You may also contact us via the 19th Ward Community Association at 328-6571 to get on our email list.

19th Ward Community Cats was hard at work in 2015!!!  In 2015, we were able to spay/neuter 287 free roaming cats in the 19th Ward as part of the City Kitty project.  They were also vaccinated,  and treated for fleas, worms, and parasites.  That's 287 outdoor cats who've received vet care and will no longer be reproducing on our streets or be vulnerable to disease!  Approximately 80 of those cats/kittens were placed for adoption with our City Kitty partner, Four-Legged Friends Animal Adoptions, Inc., and they're now in loving forever homes- off the streets entirely!  Members of this group and colony caretakers volunteer their time and bear the financial burden for much of this work.  If you'd like make a financial contribution to this group please take or mail your donation to the 19th Ward Community Association Office, 216 Thurston Road.  Every dollar is spent on vet care for our community cats.  If you'd like to help in any other way, please let us know!  Thank you!!

Have not seen anything from Community Cats lately, like in the last year.  Do they still exist?  They used to have a mailing list that had reached members who are not on Facebook.  What's up?

Hello neighbors,

My roommate's indoor kitty went missing last Wednesday, September 21st.  We live on Burlington Ave near the corner of Brooks Ave.  The kitty answers to the name of "Sophie" and I've included a couple of photos of her.  She's not very friendly to strangers so I doubt that anyone took her.  I've walked my Corgi around the block on both Woodbine and Post Avenues and thankfully did not see her hit by a car.  If anyone even thinks they may have seen her, please contact me.  My roommate is heartsick.  Thank you for your help!

Found male kitten on Grandview Ter on July 4th.  Please reply here if he's yours or you would like to adopt.  He's very friendly and litter trained. He's staying inside with us right now.  Please hurry, he's a lover.

My cat Franti got out late last night from my house on Trafalgar. He is a large long haired black cat. He has a collar with his name and my phone number, 845-706-2320. Franti is disabled and has limited use of his back legs.

Hi Marian, Zarina (the friend's cat being fostered all this time) URGENTLY needs a new foster home (landlord complaining about more than 2 cats).

She is quiet, mostly sleeps in a quiet out-of-the-way place and is pleasant and easy-going. Karen is making progress, but this could be a while longer. She would like to be able to visit her when she is able, but often has car troubles and work schedule challenges that would make those rare, but the little girl is running out of options. I still haven't resolved my own dual cat interactions because my time is consumed with my daughter's multiple health issues.

Anyone out there who could help? Karen would try to help by providing litter and cat food as often as she could.

Call me, someone, pls!  328-3141

I've been feeding, at minimum 6 cats, behind the KFC on Chili Ave. for a month or so. They live in the 10" drainage pipe that empties into the side gully. Unobtrusively behind the brick wall of their dumpster area, I leaned a small board to keep the food dry. Anticipating the extreme cold this week, I made two small shelters (all black), placing one down in the gully and another off to the side under a cedar, facing the woods. This evening, in a foot of snow, an employee came out and told me she was going to remove the shelter & food, remove the cedar tree and I couldn't feed the cats because it was a business. I believe that because they are already in the shelters and accustomed to being fed, it would be a violation of the federal cruelty to animals act (§ 353) for her to dislodge and starve them in this weather. Am I right?

A low-cost spay/neuter clinic is now up and running on Bay street.  They are not part of Rochester's Animal Services or Lollypop farm, but a member of Monroe Veterinary Associates.   Friends of Ferals clinics will be scheduled monthly to address the feline overpopulation problem. At the clinics, roughly 30 to 40 cats will be spayed or neutered and receive vaccines and flea treatments.  Call for details.  Following is information about location, schedule, and eligibility:

Hello again!  Someone called the house saying they may have my cat.  However, the caller did not leave her name and the number did not go through.  If it was any one here, could you please call me again?  Thank you so much!

Lost one of my cat babies last night. We call him "Job" after the biblical of same name. He darted out into the night and, as of this writing, I have no idea where he went, how far, or even what direction. If you see him, PLEASE CALL ME, 737-8693.
