At the June SWCC meeting, we began exploring how to work together to effectively and cooperatively market SouthWest Quadrant events, activities, issues, etc.   Attached is information the Arnett Library shared with us:  Arnett Public Relations Checklist.docx

An interesting prospect if the FCC follows through on providing free Wi-Fi:

Frontier Estimates Cost of Community Wi-F

Below are budgetary quotes associated with growth of this WiFi infrastructure:

Initial Capital Investment:  100-200-500 users =  $325,000

1000 users- Additional $84,742  ---- Total Capital=$409,742

2000 users- Additional $84,742 ---- Total Capital =$494,484

The Monthly Recurring Charge of $1,000.00 would remain constant.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

That is great news John!  It will be interesting to see how far north of Main Street an antenna can be placed.  It will be valuable to determine what the Wi-Fi signal penetration into and through wood-frame houses of the SBANA vintage can be.   That will be important information to get for determining potential value to the City School District for student home use.

I met with the Brooks Administration today. In short, the administration wants to work towards extending the free zone westward to Main & King Street. It currently ends at 490 (Nick Tahoes). This will serve as a pilot program. We will then survey and report the results. The county will reach out to the City School District. Someone will (I guess me) reach out to the Greater Rochester Enterprise to see if they are interested. I will be speaking with the IT manager, Nelson Rivera. My task is to get our Frontier contact and share their information with Nelson. The meeting did not last long. However it was fruitful.

A meeting with the Brooks administration has been confrimed for August 14th. We need to kick around some dates so that the communication's core team can meet. This means you Eleanor! Ha ha. Please help to coordinate a meeting so that we can discuss our strategy for the Southwest Wi-Fi. Thanks.
