Note that in my last post in #2 the two blue .doc and .htm files are indeed files that you need to click on to open in word or as an html page. When you do that you see the red color of the original sentence which happens to be the same wording as the title of the file.

In #1 when I cut and pasted what was original a color red text line, it lost its color. That just happens to be the way the text input boxes work on Location19.

As far as a letter you tried to post getting half cut off I'm not sure what would do that. When posting something today I saw some note display that there is a 4MB file limit, but that is much larger than what you are trying to post.
One more thought, posting .htm files is probably better in that they load faster in to the browser window, and are smaller files than the same thing as a .doc file. Also, to read a .doc file the person has to have word on their computer or some other software that can read .doc files. In my Word 97 software I can read in a .doc file then do a Save As... and select Save as type: HTML Document.

Again, if you are trying something and having trouble don't hesitate to call me at 328-4271. I'm learning how this site work myself as I'm testing these things out.

Hi Doris,
What were you posting? I don't see anything of a "first letter" or half a "second letter" having been posted.

There are two ways you can get your Columbus Meeting letter posted:
1--- You can copy and post it into the text input box in which case you as you scroll through the replies the full text of the letter will show. Here is a copy and pasted sentence:

This is a test post that was copy and pasted here.

2--- You can load it into the text box as a file that will show as a file the reader can click on to view. I'll try it here with the small .htm file , first as a .doc file.:

This is a test post that was initially saved as.doc
Then we'll try the same posting the came sentence file and a .htm file:

This is a test post that was initially saved as.htm

In all cases the original text was red.

Hi Doris,
I'm sorry it took me so long to approve your Application. It got buried in the higher than normal deluge of email. You should now be able to log in to Location19. Once logged in you will find there is a text input box on the pages where you can add your posts. You can copy and past information into the text box or type it in. For the Boulder issue I would suggest adding post that concern pre CDC Board vote comments under my Discussion topic "Proposed Sale of the Boulder Coffee Building" in the Forum. Posts concerning Developments after the October 20 CDC Board of director vote would probably best go in Margy's Discussion "CDC vote results - Boulder". For posting letters to the board and the like it is best to use the text box under the "Reply to This" just under the Discussion description which repeats at the top of each page when there are a lot of replies. If you want to post something that builds on someone else's reply, you can click the "Reply to This" under the reply and a text input box will open there for you and when done click "Add Reply" and you reply will be nested under their reply.
Have fun Doris. I hope there is a 19th Ward History Group in Location19's future!
John
