I had asked Officer Kristin Runyon ina note today if the Rochester Police Department at 428-7113 was the best number to call and if 911 should be used in time critical situations. Here is her response.
911 is the best place for the "I think she might be at such and such location right now" call. 428-6595 is a good number for plain leads that need to be investigated. That is our "Missing Persons Unit", but don't let "unit" fool you, it is one person, but she can send the info to patrol guys to look into.Kris
Please send any leads you get on Jhatisha to the Rochester Police Department at 428-7113.
I had sent a note to Officer Kristin Runyon Sunday to check and make sure Jhatisha was properly entered in the RPD system. I got an email back from Kristin today that she had confirmed that Jhatisha is in the system when she was first contacted regarding her by one of our PCIC members. The RPD does not have the man power or money to get too involvedas in runaway cases but that the lack of meds may have 'qualified' her for an 'extenuating' label which allows us a little more leeway. With her in the system, if a officer anywhere runs her name they will know she is missing. The RPD does not have people to try to get leads in cases like this, but if the mom or anyone else gets one, they can certainly send officers to check on it. Kris closed by saying, " I am glad to see so much effort on the community's part being put into her being found. I will reach out to the mom when I get in to work today, see if I can fill in the gaps..."
Be sure to send in any leads you can. Remember that Kristin is assigned downtown at present and can not check messages on her NSC office phone regularly. If you need to contact her use email: KR0615@CityofRochester.gov or call Lt. Ray Dearcop at 428-9940.
