Calling attention to my photography website, where people can view and purchase the best of my photography:

I have posted six new images in the Floral gallery - all of them taken from a brief walk at Highland Park, near the reservoir.

The name "Blueroses" is taken from Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie." "Blue Roses" is the nickname that protagonist Jim Wingfield gave to his sister Laura in high school, a "sound-alike" for the illness that disabled her, crippling her emotionally -- pleurosis. Although intended to symbolize Jim's disconnect from the harsh reality of his and his sisters' lives, in my life it is a statement of triumph over adversity created by my own numerous chronic and disabling conditions.

I can go out for a walk as short as 15-30 minutes, return home, and sit at my computer for hours working on transforming what would otherwise be mundane images, using a variety of Photoshop filters. More than a few folks have noted the similarity between my images and paintings by another Georgia, Georgia O'Keefe. And most certainly the sensuality of those paintings, particularly her florals, have been an inspiration.

Aside from the nature photography, I also specialize in events. I have covered events professionally for several non-profit organizations. I learned events photography on my own, through constant practice as a volunteer or as someone interested in creating a pictorial record of the events. I've covered the gamut between city parades to political protests to music and dance festivals.

I had a solo exhibit at the old "Cell Gallery" at Writers & Books back in the late spring/early summer of 1997. As it had been a very long time since I had used a darkroom, and since the cost of supplies plus renting darkroom time was prohibitive for me, I chose instead to scan 4x6 black & white prints (I didn't go digital until 2003) and then print 8x10s with my 300 dpi inkjet printer. The show, "Mud Road: Stories, Poems & Images" was a success, but I had a major flare-up in my chronic conditions following, and I never got around to promoting it to other galleries.

I've also had two appearances as a guest photographer at Image City Photography, one in 2007 and recently in February.

I am looking for small galleries interested in exhibiting my work. I have three themed exhibits: the aforementioned "Mud Road" (black & whites with an accompanying essay and poems); "Megan's Garden: A study in meditation and healing," and my most recent nature photography (dominated by florals).
