PARTICIPANTS SOUGHT FOR MARTIAL ARTS "CLICKER" TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT ROCHESTER'S FOODLINK

Martial arts organizations and individual martial arts practitioners are invited to participate in a Martial Arts “Clicker” Tournament to benefit Foodlink on January 31, Saturday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., to be held at the city’s Adams Street Community Center, 85 Adams St.

Participants (ages 6 and over) of all martial arts forms are welcome to register by calling 428-7442 no later than January 30. The entry fee for each spectator and each participant is 5 to 10 cans of food to be donated to Foodlink.
A “clicker” tournament demands expert martial arts skills. Participants must perform movements without any bodily contact between competitors. The referee sounds a “clicker” each time a point is scored without contact. The participant with the most “clicks,” during a given time, wins. White uniforms and waiver form required. The event itself is open to the public.

As a founding member of Feeding America, Foodlink is part of a national network of 200 food banks. Locally, Foodlink rescues and redistributes over 8 million pounds of food annually to a network of 550 programs. Foodlink has a 30-year history of feeding hungry people in the Greater Rochester area. Today, the food bank serves nearly 90,000 meals each week or a total of 4.5 million meals annually, as stated by the Foodlink web site.
Concessions at the event will be staffed by members of the Tony Jordan Youth Sports Foundation. For more information, call 311 (outside of the city, call 428-5990) or visit the city’s website at www.cityofrochester.gov (releases).
