We had great success last year with Corner Cookouts, and I would like to see them continue in the coming season. We are in planning stage to have at least three in the 19th Ward. The first one will be in the City- owned lot at the corner of Thurston across from Thurston Garage, at Thurston and Midvale.

These are a neighborhood reach-out to show that people who live here care, and want to make their neighborhood better, by getting to know each other. To help plan, contact Mark at msweetla@frontiernet.net, or Crime Prevention Officer Kris Runyon at the Neighborhood Service Center, 428-7630.

We are tentatively planning the first Cookout at Thurston for Friday, April 30.

If you are interested in working on this, let me know. We need hot dogs,(found Ball Park a big winner last year, ) buns, condiments. Adam McFadden said he would put this in the budget for this year, so maybe Ann Robinson can tell me if he did.

Let's start planning for this now.

We did it last year in two days, and I want to avoid that for this year. We need a little more planning, thus this early notice.

Thanks!

Mark

Time has changed to 4:30 start. We are also hoping to add some features, including representatives from block club associations from throughout the Ward, so folks can join up in their area. Come celebrate Spring with your neighbors! Free hot dogs from the grill, hopefully some sun, and meeting some great people!

Plans are well underway, so this is a go, folks. Put it on your calendar to stop down for a dog on Friday, April 30, from anytime between 4 and 7 PM. Meet and greet your neighbors!
