Abundance Cooperative Market and Lyjha Wilton

Although I'm not a  member, I am a customer of Abundance.  I'm appalled that they would consider engaging in a business venture with Lijha Wilton.  This man has a history that includes  taking financial advantage of 19th Ward community members with regard to Boulder Coffee on Genesee Street, as will as alleged labor violations concerning his dealings with the people who operated La Casa Restaurant in the South Wedge. His principles are in direct opposition to those espoused by Abundance Cooperative Market. This is a quote from Abundance's FB page:

"By petition of members, Abundance Cooperative will be holding a special meeting for member feedback on the market's relocation process. The leading candidate site is owned by local landlord and business owner, Lyjha Wilton, who has been involved in a number of questionable business practices including most recently, labor violations at La Casa Restaurant. As a cooperative, Abundance must abide by certain principles which be violated by doing business with Mr. Wilton... "

Even if you aren't a member of the cooperative, it's important to let them know how you feel about their doing business with people whose values are conflict with their own.  Here is a site where you can find the contact information for the Board of Directors:

Thanks for this information Marian. I am also a customer of Abundance, though if they make an arrangement involving Wilton that will be removed from the table (so to speak). I will be sure to contact the board. Appreciate the heads up.
