Hi Folks, I am assuming that the luminary night is still on for 2010 on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. but didn't see it on the calendar. I am working on it for my street. Is the 19th Ward Association still doing it?

As far as I know it's still happening. We're actively planning for it here on Marlborough Road and sent out a flyer to our street the week before Christmas.... yesterday I ordered a couple of "Ice Lantern" molds- it's another way to make luminaries out of of blocks of ice! One of our neighbors made some last year and they were very cool!!
where do you get the molds?
I ordered them at http://arcticicelantern.com/story.html
but you can also make them using things like balloons, etc. If you search 'ice lanterns' you'll find some other ideas for creating these.
Thanks Margy, I looked them up and plan to make some - the weather sure is great for them!
The Luminary Evening is being held. There are two events, a talk on Saturday the 16th at the Arnett Library, and the Luminary Evening itself on the 18th. Stop by Hunts to pick up you Luminary kits, and any other odds and ends you need for the season.
thanks Dan, I am going to be in Detroit that weekend but made reservations to return early Monday morning so I could take part in Luminary Evening!
Great. I just talked to City Newspaper today and they are running a little piece on it. I sent them to Location 19 to choose a picture from for the story and gave them John Boutet's number to contact for the original digital copy
