From CPO Kristin Runyon:
If you all remember, last fall two men posed as water department workers and talked their way into the home of an elderly female resident on Westfield St. Once inside, they stole a bunch of stuff.
I just got an email from the daughter of that woman. Apparently a man went to her mother's old neighbors, also an elderly female in the Westfield near Hillendale area. This was Saturday, 4/2/11 at around 8:30-9:00 a.m. Suspect is a m/w that may have been part hispanic (perhaps just had dark hair, more olive or dark skin- but
definitely white) in his late 30's early 40's. He came to her door and told her that due to all the road work there are some homes with contaminated water. He then asked if her husband was there. He then asked about a son. The victim closed her door saying she was going to call the city. When she looked out again, he was gone. This is very similar to the November 2010 incident where the males were described as white, possible italian or hispanic. I am done for the day, we will do what we can tomorrow.
The 5th Platoon has been notified. If you see anything suspicious please call 911 and then call one of the a CPO's or the Lieutenant at the NSC Office. Kris is on mornings only and at Headquarters at a different phone for the next week or two so don't leave phone messages for her. She does have access to her email however.
Please pass this information on to your neighbors if you are in a construction area. Be particularly watchful over old neighbors living alone since they are the most vulnerable to this type of scam. Be sure to give them your phone number and get theirs so you can connect easily.
