We would love to see E 2 represented at Square Fair this year . Please let me know what creative ideas you might come up with. The parade is going to be on Friday evening this year so you are more than welcome to have an entry ion that or the fair itself. See you at the Fair.

Summer Picnic, Aug. 14 from 5-7 PM, at empty lot on corner of Enterprise and Post.  Potluck and cookout with free hot dogs.   Bring a dish to share. And a chair!  Meet neighbors, sit a bit.  Open to all, so please join us!

It is a block club for residents of Enterprise and Ellicott Streets, and the adjoining Post Avenue area.  Its purpose is to involve local residents with each other, so we know who lives on our streets, to help prevent crime.  It also has a social function ... we have have a few cookouts in the summer to get together and enjoy each others company.

Next meeting, Friday July 30, 5-7 PM. Corner of Enterprise and Post. Cookout and "bring a dish to pass." Bring a chair, sit a while, have some food, and some neighborly conversation. All welcome.

We will have some hot dogs again, so you don't need to bring anything, except yourself. Visit with neighbors.

Friday we had an abundance of great weather and great neighbors to make the E2 Block Club Cookout at the corner of Enterprise and Post a pleasant success. On Tuesday I had a lot of fun helping Mark Sweetland go door to door handing out invitation fliers. All the neighbors I talked to on Enterprise, Ellicott, Thurston and Post were pleasant and happy to hear what we were trying to do. I think we probably found close to two thirds of them home. Several mentioned that they remembered when the community use to have get-togethers like we were organizing and were happy to hear it might start up again.

Participating in the cookout on Friday was also very encouraging. Several of the people who we had talked to on Tuesday came. All participants provided a warm and upbeat atmosphere at the cookout. The kids who attended were well behaved and polite. To be sure, many conversation that were had discussed problems that exist in the neighborhood, but talking to this large number of neighbors who valued getting together and seeing their neighborhood improve gave one hope that together we can effect positive change... and have fun doing it.

One neighbor I had talked to Tuesday, Diane Watkins, was not going to be able to stay for the event Friday because of vacation plans but she offered to run off copies of my last flier which I had just given her and to finish canvasing her block on Post. She also contributed many hot dogs for the event and wants to be part of the block club. Her new neighbor across the street had also hoped to attend and join the group. I had a phone message from her when I got home saying she had ended up having to work late and was sorry she could not make it but to notify her of the next event.

I don't mind an old guy from Melrose St. joining E2 Block Club. In fact, we welcome all the help you have provided in the past year, flyering, walking PAC-TAC on Thurston, taking photos and cooking at our first corner cookout. You are now an honorary lifetime member!
