Hi everyone-
as some of you already know, we have had a lot of difficulty with US Mail delivery on Marlborough Road (late mail, no mail, damaged mail, missing mail and mis-delivered mail). This problem is going on 2 years duration and several 'interventions' to address the problem have been tried.
I know that 2 years ago when we first noticed this on Marlborough that some other parts of the 19th ward were experiencing similar issues.
Soooo, I am wondering whether you've experienced similar issues? if so, can you please post a quick note here.
thanks-
Margy

Over here on Penhurst we continually receive mail that belongs to someone else, which I think is a sorting problem at the post office. On occasion our mail is wet, or we will get several days worth bundled together and delivered at once. But it does not see to have a rhyme or reason to it, and it's not a huge problem for us. At least compared to what your describing.
That's true Sheri, I didn't think of it that way. It seems to be Fridays when we see it the most. I can tell, when the "Southwest" D&C paper they mail to the 19th Ward for Friday delivery shows up on Saturday, and sometimes Monday. Lately it seems to be OK, but I'm not home when the mail comes.
Here on Marlborough Road we continue to experience mail delivery problems- late mail, no mail, mail that is withheld without resident 'permission', etc. Our efforts to address this problem have included: a discussion with the mail carrier, calls to the Westgate Office, discussions with the Westgate supervisor, calls to the Jefferson Road office, letter to Louise Slaughter, etc, etc.......
Yesterday at least 6 residents on Marlborough received NO MAIL - one could probably safely assume that this is not a mere coincidence.
Our regular mail carrier spends a lot of time on her cell phone (while delivering mail) and also socializes quite a bit with another mail carrier and select residents of the street.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem with Mail issues on their street??
I just had a thought. What if you have someone send mail to a large group of residents on your street all at one time. Then keep a log when the mail arrives at it's destination. Do this several times at random to see what the results are on different days. You could send a postcard, that would cut the cost down a bit (.28 cents each).
We have not had any problems on Woodbine so it might be specific to your carrier.
thanks- we know that part of the problem is with the carrier but there is a larger systems issue that allows this individual behavior continue. as far as I know, most people got mail on friday- and yesterday our mail got delivered at 4:45 pm- the latest Saturday delivery I've ever encountered.
We've been on Arnett Blvd for two months and haven't had any problems with the mail. It rarely arrives at the same time every day, but I don't worry much about that.
