Believe me, many of the mini marts should not be in business.  In my opinion, by the city banning new mini-marts, the message the city is sending is " We can't do anything about the laws you break so we are going to give the existing mini-marts a monopoly."  If the mini-marts are not following the rules- SHUT them down!

Stop trying to put bandaids on wounds that need surgery.  There are laws on the books, enforce them!  Set the example that if you are going to open business in Rochester you will be a business that is an asset to the community. NCS do your jobs! Visit the mini-marts. Make sure they are not selling lucys etc.  The community needs to ask the NSC when was the last time they visited a mini-mart.

There is a mini-mart on Genesse St.  right near the NSC office. They have had a huge broken window right in the front.  They have had this broken window for over a year! Where is the NSC.  This is an easy one, its right in front of you.

Before the city starts putting bans on business, maybe they should make sure they have done their job with the laws on the books to set the right expectation.  If these mini-marts are held to the same expectation as the rest of us then they won't be so quick to set up a shady business.

Just my 2 cents

Mary,

I admire the passion you have and the energy and effort you bring to the neighborhood. I'm sure it must seem at times that you are running against the wind. Too many people sit back and wait for something to change. You aren't afraid to make changes. I've been hearing for years that some corner stores will not only sell loosies and weed, but guns too.  Although, personally, I don't see buying one cigarette for a dollar because you can't afford to pay $10.00 for a pack is a crime..stupid maybe, but not criminal.
