John indicated in a recent post that he and Marion are financially supporting the existence of this site per these comments below. While I know that the Boutet's are independently wealthy :-) (kidding- i don't know anything about their finances!) I think it's important that people who find this website "valuable" contribute to its existence!!

"Right now keeping Location19 going is costing us $24.95 a month http://www.ning.com/chooseplan .   That gives us up to 10GB storage.   After that I have to start deleting content or go up to the next contract level which will cost us $59.95 a month.  The "us" is Marian and me.  That is a lot of money for the privileged of working for free as admins.  You may notice that most of the pictures I post are greatly reduced in size.  A 1.5 MPixel image more than fills a screen, so even if I shoot at 10 or 16 MPixel resolution, I reduce it down to what makes sense posting."

Judy Baker indicated that she would help support the site when she said : "I'm good for 1 month".  I'm going to take the Judy Baker lead and will cover one season of costs.

Who else can make a contribution to ease the financial burden on John and Marion?? How about some of our local businesses or neighborhood groups pitching in??

Also, i think the SW is due for another neighborhood works grant next year so it would be great to apply for one of those to sustain the site - I'd be happy to write this if needed.

I'm in! Is a paypal/donate button possible?

Yes, we have been talking with Joan Roby-Davison about possibly having the CDC be involved handling the contributions to take advantage of their tax exempt status.  Marian looked into it a year or so ago and I think it had to be a business paypal account.   We will try to get something going in the near future.

YES, if the NeighborGood Grants are Westside next year write the grant.  It's not complicated to write because I wrote one for the Elba Street Block Club which we received.  I believe the 19th was the fiduciary. CDC was the fiduciary for the Court Watch grant.  Who do I make the check out to? WOW PayPal would be GREAT. My cousin opened up a PayPal account and we were able to order and pay for Girl Scout cookies that her daughter was selling in Virginia!! I did it all with my credit card!! Order was received and I am anxiously awaiting my COOKIES! I sent the $$ to an email account.  Let me ask her how she did it. BBL headed to Face Book to ask.

I'm in for a month. Send me the details.

It's easy to create the pay pal link. paypal.com then if not already done,    create an account. Once the account has been created click on "Merchant Services" and then click on the link to "Add button to website" from there it will give the option of the button you would like and if you want it to be a certain denomination or if the user can fill in their own amount. Pay pal instantly creates a link. The web administration downloads the image of the button, attaches the link from pay pal to that button and viola it is set-up.

I think we are on the right track with private donations. WE ARE capable of pitching in and making this work without government help / grants. We already have a great start! Many people already willing to contribute and many more that would if given the opportunity. This is how it should be. That is how you know you are creating something of value, When people reach into their pockets, pull out their hard earned dollars and say "I want to contribute what I can to support this resource i use." This should be a true experiment and testament to what we, as a community CAN accomplish. If the individuals that use this resource can't support this asset to our community we should not expect anyone else to.

Well said Tony! And thanks to all you and your family have done to contribute positively to this community!! Things are looking up and I am waiting to see even more great things in the PLEX community once the snow melts! You have breathed a bit of fresh air into the corner of S. Plymouth & Jefferson, a corner once riddled with guns, drugs, gang activity and loitering! BTW I think your camera is the ONLY one working on that corner!

I agree. If just 12 people signed on, the problem would be solved. There are certainly more than 12 people who value this site. Spread among us and at such a low rate this should be a no brainer. Let's all man up, and woman up and do our part.

I'm in for a month! Tell me who to send a check to.

See the new "Donate" button at the top left!

It only took a minute!

got my contribution in a few days ago!
