Here's a note I ran by Crime Prevention Officer Kristin R., who urged me to post it, after I sent it to my block club members, E2, for Enterprise and Ellicott Streets.

Neighbors,

As a block club, we have been trying to keep porch lights on at night to help deter crime.  Lighting is a big help in preventing home break-ins, as well as car break-ins if you have a motion detector in your back yard.  It can also deter robberies as people walk from car to home door.  You can for about $11 turn any standard light into a motion light and installation is the same as "screwing in a light bulb."  Visit a home improvement store if you want one of them.

We had a great response in porch lighting when the notice first went out, but now there is a drop-off, with only a few houses lit at night. It only costs pennies a day, and we would like all to participate.   This is to safeguard your house, and your neighbors.  Please help out.

If you have any questions, please call the Neighborhood Service Center, and ask to speak with a Crime Prevention Officer, 428-7630.

Thanks for your participation!
