The post was a way to inform the residents of the 19th Ward that soon we will see an influx of new faces roaming about. Plus it is a way to make the freshman feel welcome and interested in joining L19.
Location19 is open to all, and I do not want it to become an insular place were only a few feel welcome. I try and include postings about subjects and items that broaden the scope of the site.

We have a couple that moved in next door a year ago. They were fresh out of college, and nervous about the neighborhood. At first they asked question like "is it safe around here?" and they didn't venture to far from their house. Now they go jogging, or run up to Hunt's Hardware, with out even batting a eye. Their parents were a bit skeptical at first as well. But they come over and work on the yard even if their kids are not home. You are right Wendy, It's the power of knowing your neighbors!

We certainly welcome all our new neighbors - lets look for opportunities to let them and their parents know that we do welcome them to our neighborhood. We have very young and new neighbors next door who moved in this summer, we made a point to meet them and their parents, let them know that we've live here over 30+ years and love the diversity of the neighborhood. It has gone a long way for the families' acceptance of their daughters' housing choice...
