19th Ward Community Cats

This group is for 19th Ward residents who are concerned about the plight of stray, feral, and abandoned cats in our neighborhood.  It is our goal to live in a community where all cats are treated humanely and cats and humans live in harmony.

That is where most of our communication is happening right now.  You may also contact us via the 19th Ward Community Association at 328-6571 to get on our email list.

19th Ward Community Cats was hard at work in 2015!!!  In 2015, we were able to spay/neuter 287 free roaming cats in the 19th Ward as part of the City Kitty project.  They were also vaccinated,  and treated for fleas, worms, and parasites.  That's 287 outdoor cats who've received vet care and will no longer be reproducing on our streets or be vulnerable to disease!  Approximately 80 of those cats/kittens were placed for adoption with our City Kitty partner, Four-Legged Friends Animal Adoptions, Inc., and they're now in loving forever homes- off the streets entirely!  Members of this group and colony caretakers volunteer their time and bear the financial burden for much of this work.  If you'd like make a financial contribution to this group please take or mail your donation to the 19th Ward Community Association Office, 216 Thurston Road.  Every dollar is spent on vet care for our community cats.  If you'd like to help in any other way, please let us know!  Thank you!!

The SWAN Grow Green program is looking for 2 cats to make the greenhouse their home.  We have several cat lovers over there and would like to be a home to eaters-of-mice as well as a way to orient our kids as to the appropriate care of pets.  For specific information, contact Lisa Barker at 943-0786, the Grow Green Program Director.

Hi all,

I've had two e-mails recently through the web site from people who have just begun feeding single cats they cannot take in themselves, one a small black kitten and the other described as very friendly (so very adoptable). I'm recommending them to call Habitat, but thought I would check if anyone has room for one more...

I find it very difficult to  do TNR once it gets dark. Sorry Alice.

Extra TNR appointment 11/21, anyone? Cathy Brokaw says that she will be unable to keep one of her TNR appointments, scheduled for 11/21, and asked me to check and see if anyone would like to take it over, as it were, before she calls to cancel it.

You guys all rock! And I wanted to let people know, Natasha (our errant cat) came back of her own accord after a couple of weeks away.  We were very happy about that!

Make that 110 cats/kittens total for the 19th Ward! Lily Rose and her five kittens were all placed in loving homes, and Lily found a new mother Nov. 6. They were all spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and tagged.

Lost cat on Warwick

Our pretty black and white cat Natasha has not been home since 9/23. she's a rescue cat, ear-tipped, and doesn't keep a collar, and she is pretty shy, though she likes petting. So I suspect that if she does not chose to come home, she may never be noticed by a human. but if you see her, let me know!

Kathleen,

I have one just like her that was feeding with my feral cat colony. She was also pregnant when I took her in.I've been trying to get adopted for the last 4 months. I wish you good luck. Don't give up. This is Felicia in her playful mood.

This young cat, under 6 mos., showed up in the 300 block of Aldine 1 month ago. I thought it was a male and have now found out it is a female and is, I believe, pregnant. She is very loving, very smart and was definitely raised in a house. I cannot keep her, but would like her to have a loving home. If anyone is interested please contact me.
