A Message from Shawn about Location19

Dear Location19 members,

I have been worrying about how to tell you all this for sometime, and as many of you have noticed, Anthony and I
have listed our house for sale. I will be graduating at the end of May,
and for employment and educational reasons, we have decided that we
will be relocating to Seattle, WA this summer.

This was a hard decision to make, and we have been debating the idea since I started
school in 2006. But as you may know, the economy is still very bad, and
it is near impossible to find a job in my field of Interior Design, here
in Rochester, or NY State outside of NYC for that matter.

At this time I do not have an administrative successor to take over the
operations of Location19. This site has become a much needed vehicle for
the 19th Ward, and I will do everything in my power to have it continue
into the far reaching future.

I understand that this news is a shock to many of you, and It is not an easy thing for us either. The
19th Ward has been an incredible home for us, and you all will remain in
our hearts and minds, every time we think of Rochester.

I would also like to remind you, that without you all, Location19 is nothing.
It has been every 187 of you that have made Location19 what it is, and I
have faith that the site will continue to grow.

Thank you for the opportunity to have helped build community with you.
See you around the Ward.
-Shawn

Shawn,
Your commitment to the neighborhood and to "Location 19" has not gone unnoticed. I can only imagine the time and energy--and expertise!--it has taken and takes to have set it up and keep it viable. We will feel your absence, but wish you and Anthony well in your new venture in a new locale. Seattle is pretty nice, I hear!
Thank you again, Shawn and Anthony!

I too am disappointed that you and Anthony are leaving the 19th Ward. You have done a wonderful job bringing us together and keeping us informed of 19th Ward happenings. I wish you much good luck in a beautiful city - you're going to love it there! Have you had any luck finding someone to take over administration of Location 19? I would love to help out but fear that it would take a lot of time (which I don't have - I work full time and have a family with 2 teenagers) and require a lot of geekiness which I totally lack. What kind of work and amount of time does the administration require?

Thank you all for the kind words :) Living in the 19th Ward was the only place that felt like home during our 6 years in Rochester, and it was everyone of you who made it feel that way! Thank you -Shawn

I did think of it. Maybe we could do something at Genesee Valley Park.

Has anyone thought about a "good bye" party? WE really must.

Like others I am sad to lose you both, and that seeking employment has once again torn apart human relationships. Thank you for all that you have brought to this community with your caring, spirit of giving and technology gift. I will miss you sorely. Too bad we never got to go for that cup of coffee!
Hugs to you both,
With love, MacClurg

I think that we were supposed to have some sort of committee or workgroup or election to decide whether Shawn and Anthony are allowed to leave us!! :-)
Seriously.... Shawn, you've brightened the lives of many here in Rochester and in the 19th ward. From amazing customer service at Starbucks to developing/implementing Location19 and lots of other stuff in between.
Location19 can continue but we won't be the same without you and we will miss you and Anthony!

How sad for us that you will be leaving, but hopefully it will be a positive move for you. Your contribution to our community has been invaluable, and we will miss you! With any luck someone can take over Location19, but it would not be the same.

Best wishes for success, and sincere thanks for all you have done!
