Minutes of July Meeting
Arnett Block Association
July 27, 2016

We had about 10 people attend our meeting each with concerns about the neighborhood. Officers Carl and Andy attended and did not have anything to report, however, the people who attended had concerns that we discussed.

Aaron and Kate, on Warwick had 5 cars in their driveway vandalized and broken into. The car doors were opened with something like a crowbar, cars were graffitied, things were stolen, etc. About $10,000 of damage was done and only one car had comprehensive insurance on it. The cars were at 261 Warwick, a house they are renovating. They suspect that the youth that are playing craps in the parking area right behind Arnett Cafe on Warwick were involved but have no proof. This happened on Monday right before the rain came during the day. Please let us know if you saw anything. In the future, if the kids are loitering in that lot, they will call either Susan or His Branches so we can call 911 and have them arrested for trespassing. A backpack was picked up by police in that lot with what appeared to be a pellet gun in it.

Geneva at Arnett and Wellington has  film footage of a boy being beaten by a group of youth on July 22nd in front of her building. Carl and Andy did not have a  report of this incident but rumor says he had a broken jaw from the beating. Perhaps he did not want it reported. Carl and Andy will look it up and if it was reported they will contact Geneva today and get the footage from her before it is too late.

One of our neighbors has consistently seen a car dealing large quantities of marijuana (large bag seen) with license plate HEG 2100, new black Camaro. Carl and Andy will follow up on this.

236 Warwick is a regular problem for noise violations and a couple neighbors are going to file a noise deposition.

There is a growing problem with ATV type vehicles on the street, going too fast, adults and sometimes very young kids driving with no helmets, sometimes DWI, very loud. This is illegal in the street and probably also on the side walk. We should call 911 and report it. 68 Warwick seems to be one place where these vehicles are coming from. Carl and Andy will check on this address and see if they can find someone home to talk to.

Loitering remains a problem at 301 Wellington. Haim Noam, the landlord who lives in Israel, is frustrated because he can see the loitering on the cameras but the police cannot arrest people for trespassing unless the owner or manager calls 911 and asks for it each time. Susan has conversed with him and recommended he work with his manager, Tony Cellini and the police to work this out. She has also asked the people trespassing to leave.

The problem with people (who used to live there) trespassing at 67 Warwick seems to be resolving as locks have been changed and a porch swing that they were using has been taken down. Thanks to RPD for their involvement!

There will be a meeting on August 16th, 6:30, at Arnett Library regarding the renovation of the road on Arnett. This will include some changes to the diagonal parking in front of businesses between Rugby and Warwick that will cause the loss of several spaces. Also, they have the cars in the wrong direction for a diagonal. We will appeal them to rethink those plans.

The Block Party is coming up on August 6th!! We need all the help we can get starting at 9 AM with set up until 4:30 with take down. Please come out to have some fun and help if you can. Call Susan if you would like to help 436-1628/775-9548. See attached flyers for handing out and the schedule, too. Pray for a sunny but not too hot day!
