This post is as much an appeal as it is an update. We have started putting posters and flyers in all the southwest quadrant rec centers and schools. This week we began handing out initial signup sheets to gauge potential player and parent interest. We should be putting flyers, posters and signup sheets in local places of worship next week. We now need three more volunteers to fill the positions of secretary, treasurer and sponsorship coordinator. Once these positions are filled we can formally declare our intentions of starting Little League baseball. We can begin the formal process of re-chartering, attracting potential coaches, umpires, sponsors and most importantly the kids.
As stated in an earlier blog post, the new GVLL will encompass the entire southwest quadrant. This has opened up SWAN, PLEX, Cornhill and other neighborhood associations to us as potential players and volunteers. The southwest neighborhood association has pledged its support and numerous community leaders have pledged to help. But it's still up to the parents to bring the children out an signup with them to help make GVLL a success. It won't happen any other way. Genesee Valley Park with it's 6 playing fields will be GVLL's home base.
If you have a child you'd like to see playing Little League baseball, please, sign him or her up. Then do your child a favor by signing yourself up for some position. It will put GVLL back on the map and make a very happy child.
If you don't have a child in the game but would like to lend whatever talents you have to making GVLL a success, please, now is the time to lend us your hand. Every kid playing baseball will be so glad you did!
Until next week; play ball!!

Hi Marita. To answer your question, no we still have the positions of league secretary, league treasurer and league sponsorship coordinator open. It is critical to have these positions filled before we can move to the re-chartering, and official signup phase. The ultimate goal is to have parent volunteers but start up looks to all those whow would volunteer to get the program up and running. If you email me at Lawrence.Floyd.xerox.com I can send you a PDF document explaining each positions responsibilities. There are many more roles that can be filled and this document will explain them all. Find one that suits you and dive in. GVLL needs more people like yourself. Thanks.

Hi Larry. Did you fill the volunteer slots yet? I'm interested in helping out in some way but need to know more. Primarily, what is the expected time commitment?
Thanks.
Thanks John. We will get on it immediately.

Larry,
Be sure to check with Dave Etzel down at Jim Dalberth Sporting Goods to see if he can put a flier up about the GVLL to help recruit people interested in helping this succeed. He gets traffic that has just the interests and skills to help.
