Positive News for Childhood Obesity!

Great news from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) – efforts to curb childhood obesity are working! According to new research, 19 states have seen a decrease in the number of obese preschoolers ages 2 to 4.  Twenty other states and Puerto Rico saw their numbers remain the same.  This means the number of preschool children at an unhealthy weight has fallen from 17% to 12%…

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Todd family.

Funeral for Rochester hiker will be held in Maryland

Funeral arrangements are in place for Christopher Todd, 30, of Roches­ter,  who died of heat stroke last week on a hike with family in the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

  The funeral will be Friday morning at St. Louis Catholic Church in Clarks­ville,  Md.

The air conditioned Arnett Branch Library will be open until 9:00 tonight. Having the library stay open later than normal is one of the ways the City of Rochester and RG&E are helping folks beat the heat. http://www.cityofrochester.gov/coolsweep/

Cool Sweep @ The Arnett Branch Library!

Cool Sweep is in effect today at the Arnett Branch Library!  The Arnett, Lincoln, Maplewood and Winton branches, will be open until 9:00 p.m. so people will have an air conditioned place to go to get relief from the heat.

 

Cool Sweep—presented by RG&E—is the City’s annual public safety and customer service program to help city residents who have limited opportunities to find relief from summer heat.

Keep your eyes out for a suspicious guy going door to door offering to upgrade your alarm system, or sell you one. 

He is described as a light skinned male black, 19-21 years of age, 5’9”, 160#, short hair, no facial hair, no visible tattoos.
