The story in today's D&C re: downtown food trucks & carts inspired me to do a bit of research on the very popular food cart venues in Madison, WI, where I live now. In the process I came across a story that made me think immediately of the 19th Ward and how these could be used as a way of bringing neighbors together.
Food carts and trucks are a downtown tradition here in Madison, but they are also spread out everywhere around the city. Among many wonderful ideas, there…

A message from Susan Morehouse of the Arnett Block Group:
Please take note of the new stop sign on Arnett at Wellington. This has been a dangerous corner and we have been working with the city engineer to remedy that. When they redo Arnett next year they will add crosswalks each direction. Right now, people are not noticing it and running the stop sign. Please be careful! We have arranged to have a traffic officer there during busy times but that means you could also get a ticket if…

Believe me, many of the mini marts should not be in business. In my opinion, by the city banning new mini-marts, the message the city is sending is " We can't do anything about the laws you break so we are going to give the existing mini-marts a monopoly." If the mini-marts are not following the rules- SHUT them down!
Stop trying to put bandaids on wounds that need surgery. There are laws on the books, enforce them! Set the example that if you are going to open business in…

If you value Location19, consider a donation to help with operating costs. John and Marian Boutet shoulder this effort, but it is a community effort. Use the donate button on top left, in whatever amount, so they do not have to pay the whole cost for this website. Join the Location19 Fans group, if you want!
It costs $300 a year, and we do not want to have them pay the cost. It is for us!
Thanks.

Currently we can have DSL with a possible download speed of 6 Mbps or cable which claims 15 to 20 Mbps depending on which of the more popular plans you have and how much traffic there is on the cable. Upload speeds are usually much slower for both types of service.
Greenlight is a new fiber-optic service which is slowly growing in the area. Their basic service is for a 100 Mbps download speed currently priced at $50. They also offer a 1,000 Mbps service for $250 per month. Time…

This past Saturday our association spent a couple of hours shopping for the holidays in our neighborhood. We started at the Susan B Anthony House & Museum's gift shop then up to W Main St where we found many unique items. From inspirational and one of a kind jewelry, note cards and X-mas decorations, warm knit hats and scarves. Oh and can't forget the delicious Caribbean Rum Cake. A great holiday gift.
Overall we invested over $400 in our neighborhood in less than two…

Hi Neighbors, Are you handing out candy to trick or treaters this Halloween? Stop by the Arnett Branch Library and pick up a packet or two of Halloween poetry bookmarks. You can then pass the bookmarks out to kids along with their treats. It is a sneaky and spooky way to encourage reading! Four young writers created the poems with help from Arnett Friends Deb Leary and…

Hi Neighbors,
Do you have any gently used, disposable grocery bags you would like pass along? The Arnett Branch Library would love to accept them. They are very handy for our patrons when they are borrowing books, DVDs and CDs.
