We have been trying to find a group or church on the west side of the city that we can refer people to to get help with furniture. We have a large area of our own to serve and just can't cover any more of Rochester than we already do. We tried once before; we had over a 6 month waiting period to visit them and give them furniture. So we had to circle our wagons and stick to our parish area. (the northeast) I would love to meet with…

The current YouthBuild class is finishing up their construction training and we are looking to place them into internships to gain some additional work experience. I was wondering if you had any internship opportunities or know of anyone that had any opportunities for our students. We would pay the students so there would be no financial…

We had a good turnout last night and had a lively discussion about the problems facing our neighborhood this summer and fall.
Probably the largest problem is the frequent gathering of youth on Arnett and the subsequent fighting, blocking of the street, vandalism, etc. Most recently the young people have been pulling up the lose pavers in front of His Branches and carrying them around the neighborhood, throwing some at houses and windows. (217…

A message from Susan Morehouse of the Arnett Block Group:
Please take note of the new stop sign on Arnett at Wellington. This has been a dangerous corner and we have been working with the city engineer to remedy that. When they redo Arnett next year they will add crosswalks each direction. Right now, people are not noticing it and running the stop sign. Please be careful! We have arranged to have a traffic officer there during busy times but that means you could also get a ticket if…

Although I'm not a member, I am a customer of Abundance. I'm appalled that they would consider engaging in a business venture with Lijha Wilton. This man has a history that includes taking financial advantage of 19th Ward community members with regard to Boulder Coffee on Genesee Street, as will as alleged labor violations concerning his dealings with the people who operated La Casa Restaurant in the South Wedge. His principles are in direct opposition to those espoused by…
