Baby it's cold outside...

... (and not very warm at The Arnett either)!

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, Kingdom Ventures @ The Arnett will be closed (again) on December 9th because we're waiting on parts for the furnace. Never fear, we'll still run ALL our specials once we get open again. Keep an eye here because Dec 8th's special was 10% off ALL our totes and Dec 9th's was to be on our remaining stock of soapstone. We WILL offer those specials along with Dec 10th's (all our "Basic Black"… Continue

Thurston Road is depressing

I drive on Thurston every day, sometimes several times and decided today that I need to avoid it for a while. It depresses me! Aside from the Presbyterian Home and Hunts there are no signs of the holidays on Thurston. The Post Office does have some Christmas and Hanukah stamps for sale, but the area in front of the post office is filled with litter and trash. Likewise, the rest of Thurston (from Marlborugh to Brooks) is FILLED with litter- bottles, paper plates, newspapers, drug baggies,… Continue

Day 6: We've Saved a Place(mat) for YOU!

Holidays are a time to dress up you table! These hand-woven placemats from Asian Threads of Thailand are a great way to do that.

For December 7 ONLY we are offering these beautiful placemats at 10% off.

Day 5: In the Lap of (Laotian) Luxury

Nothing says luxury like silk, and these hand-woven 100% silk scarves say it elegantly. Mrs. Doi of Laos is proud to keep alive a long tradition of Laotian silk production. We debuted these scarves at our Open House and they have been very popular. For December 5 ONLY, all remaining Laotian scarves are 10% off

Day 4: So I went to the Potter's House...

Actually that IS where this pottery comes from: The Potter's House in Avanos Turkey. We're offering 10% off ALL of our Turkish pottery ONLY on December 4!

Day 3: Shed a little light in your world!

...or in your home, at least! With our hand-made Tea Lights from Turkey, you can do just that. (BTW, does anyone know WHY they are called "tea lights"? I don't have a clue!!)

These whimsical terracotta tea lights work great with both "real" tea light candles and battery-operated ones (8 for $6 at Big Lots). And because they ARE terracotta, they're not limited to indoor use. When warmer weather returns you can put them on your front porch or patio with no fear of the weather doing any… Continue

Day 2: It's a Wrap!

Well, not really. We're only in Day 2, after all. But we ARE offering a special on all remaining wraps. Great idea too, now that Winter has actually decided to arrive!

Our pashminas and ponchos are perfect for chilly weather, inside or out. And for Day 2 (December 2) they're all 10% off.

Drop in and view all our products. And don't forget that the coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are "on us" throughout the holiday… Continue

Day 1: A tisket, a tasket, get a pine needle basket

OK, so I messed up and there are really only Twenty-ONE shopping days until Christmas!

But in any event, today being Day 1, we're featuring our Pine Needle baskets from Nicaragua. If you haven't been in the store since early November, you're missing a real treat.

These baskets come from El Sauce, Nicaragua and, yes, they really ARE made from pine needles.

We purchased over 30 of these in a variety of styles and they've been so… Continue

Alert... Watch Neighborhood

I received a phone call last night about 11 pm from unknown stating that she would blow up my house, and kill me. This was reported to the phone company, who traced the call, and they said to call 311. An officer answered and followed through, but there is no resolution as yet. The call was traced, the phone company woudl not provide the infomation to me to share with police. There has been no problem as yet. Please be vigilant. I think this was an error on her part, calling a wrong number. But… Continue

Amnesty letter writing date at Boulder?

I was thinking of writing some letters for the Amnesty International annual letter campaign and thought it might be nice to get together with others interested in doing so at Boulder Coffee. Would anyone else be interested in doing that?

Leaf Collection

For anyone who still has leaves to rake the City is currently on Salina and Devonshire doing their annual pickup. Nice to see calm weather, in previous years we got more leaves than we started with due to the wind.
