Suspicious Incident on Marlborough, Sunday 8/9 Approx 6:30PM‏

This is a repost from Sheri:

Last night at approximately 6:30pm a silver Impala pulled over in front of our house. There were several people in the car including a female in the passenger seat. A young male exited the rear driver side door and the vehicle drove off. The young male (black, thin to average weight, grey sweatshirt, dark colored ball cap) started walking east on Marlborough then he turned and quickly (almost running) went into Kathy's backyard and jumped over her fence… Continue

Car hit our neighbors house. Penhurst Street

Sheri just shared this information with me. Anthony and I were at the Little last night when this happened. There was a police car at the neighbors house when we got home. Because someone last week ran down the street light in fron of our house, it was too dark to tell that something had happened! Watch out for crazy drivers on Penhurst!

Renaissance Square.....

I've been following the recent Renaissance Square project/debate and would be interested in hearing more about how our elected City Officials viewed this project. I've seen Dana Miller's comments on TV and in the newspaper but haven't seen anything from any other city council members. Does anyone have additional information on how various council members viewed this project, how they voted, etc??

Attempted Break In

Reposted from 19th Ward Yahoo Group:

Hello all.

Just for your information: When I got home from National Night Out at about 9:00, I noticed a kitchen window wide open and a basement "window" that is actually a piece of thick wood with a round hole through which a dryer hose and vent are fitted kicked in. (A window used to be there.) The kitchen window is directly above the basement dryer vent. A window well sits there.

The two officers who responded--quickly for… Continue

Robbery at 80 Enterprise

I had a door bell ring from the police last night at 4 AM, as the new neighbors across the street had been robbed. I was still on my computer. I had not seen anything, but when I went out, the street was full of police. They said there was a robbery as the people walked from their car in the driveway to the front door. The robbers came from Thurston Rd.

Email subscriptions of Location19

Hi Location19er's!

After several requests, and much research, I have added an email subcription service to Location19. You will find in the upper left of the website (above the "Latest Activity" section) a link to add your email to the subcription service. It is free, and secure (powered by Google) and seems to function pretty well. Give it a try (you can unsubscribe as well) and let me know what you think. I will be fine tuning it in the coming days, so any feed back would be great,… Continue

On a more positive note...

I want to call everybody's attention to a wonderful happening on the corner of Chili & Thurston today. I was able to catch part of it but unfortunately my camera's battery died 1/3 of the way through.

Kids from the Carlson Y and Miss Sweet Potato Pie's dance studio kids joined forces today to celebrate Michael Jackson's life and music. The energy and joy these kids have - and their incredible talent - is beginning to redeem that notorious corner. WOW. Just WOW.

Front Yard Gardens

Great Idea! Shawn, drove by your street the other day, And thought we should all plant front yard gardens. Why have lawn when you can have flowers? Good source is Michael Warren Thomas on Trafalgar St., whose whole front yard is NOT GRASS. Take advantage of what little space we have to garden!

I have been putting in grasses, like blue fescue, wheatgrass, and another, Carl F.If anyone wants suggestions, a great catalog is http://www.highcountrygardens.com/

California Rollin Coming to 19th Ward!

Some great news for sushi lovers! Anthony and I saw a sign in a window on Genesee Street across from Boulder, that California Rollin is opening a new shop. Very Exciting! These are great signs that Brooks Landing is truly becoming a "college town" right here in the 19th Ward.

19th Ward Treasure Hunt

The 19th ward treasure hunt has officially started. Stop by any of our sponsors to pick up a clue sheet. This is also a great two weeks to go for walks in the neighborhood, as we are distributing keys on sidewalks on park benches early in the morning. We distribute these all over Monroe County but obviously more in and around the 19th ward. Early morning walking can pay off.

Stop by our sponsors as they will be setting keys out in their stores on a daily basis. While you are there pick up… Continue

Who needs 4 Million Dollars? Compare and Contrast

I know I am angry about something when it follows me into the next day! I am still boiling over the 4 million more for University Ave ArtWalk. I love the ArtWalk and feel it is an important aspect in the overall quality of life in Rochester. But in the current economic conditions, I feel it is essential to invest in parts of the city that really need help. ArtWalk will survive, but will Thurston Road? Or is this… Continue
