Sw jobs

We went  interviewing business in the neighborhood of thurston and arnett to see if they hired youth. Most businesses did not want to hire youth because they are not legal to use equipment. It was ok to do something new.

Genesee Valley Little League Forges Ahead

This post is as much an appeal as it is an update. We have started putting posters and flyers in all the southwest quadrant rec centers and schools. This week we began handing out initial signup sheets to gauge potential player and parent interest. We should be putting flyers, posters and signup sheets in local places of worship next week. We now need three more volunteers to fill the positions of secretary, treasurer and sponsorship…

Genesee Valley Little League Takes Shape

Thought I'd post an update on the progress of restarting little league in the 19th ward.

To date I've met the district commissioner and the chair of the eastside little league. We are progressing. Sometimes its best to start over and thats what we are doing. We will be expanding the league boundaries to include nearly all the southwest quadrant.

Right now we are focused on recruiting adult volunteers. Parents of potential players are especially wanted. In order to move to…

Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T)

Found an old pic of the SW Community CERT team just prior to a Chemical Disaster Drill involving area hospitals: Strong, Highland, Park Ridge and Rochester General.  The drill was conducted w/o prior knowledge to the hospitals to see if their drill procedures were in place!  There was also a 'security' drill conducted at the hospitals during the disaster drill with a disguised terrorist.  I do believe the CERT training is to be offered again in the near future.  We will…
